Mumbai: When we talk about the entertainment industry in India today, the market for vertical micro-dramas is growing at the fastest pace, with more than 200 million vertical drama viewers (subscribers). In just a few years, this format has become a huge global market, and everyone is becoming a fan of vertical series.
Seeing this rising craze for vertical content, Mohammed Shameem Fareedi of True Dreams Entertainment has taken a major step by launching India’s first award ceremony dedicated to vertical micro-dramas — the True Vertical Awards.
The awards are being organized under the banner of True Dreams Entertainment with the aim of giving a distinct identity to vertical cinema. This award show is set to create a new history in the world of awards.
The announcement of the True Vertical Awards was made by filmmaker and web series producer-director Mohammed Shameem Fareedi. He stated that True Dreams Entertainment has been consistently bringing innovation to films, television serials, and web series for years. With the same passion for innovation, he began working on this award show, which is now set to take place successfully this month.
Shameem Fareedi also shared that the awards will include categories such as Best Actor, Best Actress, Supporting Artists, Music Director, Choreographer, Director of Photography (DOP), and several technical awards. There will also be special categories for regional languages.
Star actors Hiten Tejwani and Tarun Khanna have also joined this prestigious award show. Speaking at the press conference, Hiten said that this initiative by Shameem Fareedi is highly commendable and will give new energy to artists working in the vertical format. He added that he is very excited about the show, which will feature many new elements and powerful performances. The event will honor not only actors but also technicians and crew members, from spot boys to creative professionals.
Organizer Shameem Fareedi expressed his gratitude towards Hiten Tejwani and Tarun Khanna, stating that their support has strengthened the event.
Tarun Khanna also expressed his excitement, saying that this is a bold step taken by Shameem Fareedi considering the bright future of vertical content. He added that the awards will provide strong encouragement to artists in this format. Despite his busy schedule, he agreed immediately when he heard about the event. He further said that the award show is not only historic but has the potential to compete with major Bollywood award shows.
The event will also feature popular stand-up comedians Rahman Khan, Rajeev Nigam, Amit Bahl, Wakar Sheikh, Sachin Tyagi, Dedhi Pandey, Supriya, and many other personalities from the entertainment industry.
To take the show to the next level, star performers like Naina Chhabra, Ashish, Vasant Kumar, Sonalika Prasad, Ayesha Siddiqui, Hrishikesh Ingle, Zia Chauhan, Dishant Gulia, Srishti Gupta, Bhavani Gandhi and others will deliver energetic performances. The show is being choreographed by Irshad, who is currently busy with rehearsals.
The award ceremony will take place on February 24 at Thakur College, New Link Road, Kandivali West, Mumbai.
